I’m Alex Meade, a mechanical engineer with over 40 years experience in product design and development, machine design, and prototype and production manufacturing. I’ve been building bicycle frames since 1999.
I hold a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Stanford University and have been awarded 13 US patents. My extensive engineering career affords me invaluable insight into materials, metallurgy, design innovation, manufacturing, and metrology – insight intensely relevant to designing and manufacturing bicycle frames. My experience designing machines and tools started in 1981 with my first professional employment as a mechanical engineer.
After experimenting with the available tools, I engineered and built all of the precision jigs and fixturing I use to construct frames, allowing me to achieve precise and repeatable results, whether for tried and true frame designs or something completely different. In order to return something to the community of frame builders who nurtured me, I offer my tools to other builders. I’m always happy to help with advice on framebuilding, CNC machining, or how to spec a piece of equipment or tooling. If you don’t see what you need or just want to talk, pick up the phone or send me an email.
